Resources that Inspire (without the self-help clichés)

I love learning. I love being challenged. I love finding ideas that change how you think.

But I’ve always struggled with one thing…

I hate self-help.

Not because I don’t want to develop, but because so much of the “growth” space can feel like:

  • motivational fluff

  • vague advice

  • unrealistic routines

  • or content that focuses on “fixing you” instead of helping you understand the world, your role in it, and how to create change (think “7 Steps to Becoming Happy - why is it always 7?!)

So, in the spirit of collaboration, let’s share our top recommendations for books and podcasts that do exactly that — especially for anyone who wants to build purpose and impact alongside corporate life.

I’ve always struggled with podcasts, so I only have book recommendations to share right now - but would love any podcast recommendations too!

Books worth your time

Moral Ambition, Rutger Bregman

Why I’m recommending it:

  • Thoughtful and challenging in the best way

  • Purpose-driven without being preachy

  • Inspires action without the “self-help vibe”
